Just because you don’t run your mouth doesn’t mean you don’t run your mind.
Running your mind the way you would run your mouth if you were to say what you were thinking or feeling is worse in some ways because it masks what’s in your heart.
You see every issue you have with other people and situations and circumstances has ONE common denominator: you.
The Bible says the heart is deceptive above all things, who can know it? You probably don’t even realize how much of the issue you are.
All our issues stem back to us, not “them”. Jeremiah 17:9 says not only that the heart is deceptive, but it’s wicked – wicked! – the Hebrew word there is sick and incurable! You are stuck with an incurable, inoperable sickness! it’s so bad only the God of the universe sacrificing his only God-son could cure what you have! Other people are not you’re source of ill or health. there’s nothing ANYONE can do to make you whole again – nothing but the blood of Jesus. But it ONLY saves. Even it won’t make you content.
The whole book of Philippians is about learning to be content whether people or our circumstances are ideal.
I have recently been sinning in my mind with my attitude toward people and circumstances. God had to remind me: I’m the common denominator. I am not God; I cannot change people; I cannot change circumstances – that’s why it’s called Providence! And while that’s a sentimental name for a circumstantial miracle, its point is not the realm of human ability our possibility – except to perceive and give glory to its proprietor.

So the next time you are tempted or find yourself in the midst of running your mind – remember to glorify GOD with it instead.
If you shut your mouth in order not to say something you shouldn’t, you ought not be thinking it either.

Yes, this is so true, but things said and things done are most times quite different when it comes to curtailing and/or correcting this.
Our mind is a battle ground where the old man flesh goes up against our new man spirit; and the forgiven against the condemned. That war will rage until God sets us free from this fleshly body that sin is bound to.
We fight it with those spiritual weapons to kill our old man daily, as Paul said.
Paul also said this while under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost:
2 Corinthians 10:3-6

[3] For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: [4] (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal [meaning fleshly or “after the flesh”], but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) [5] Casting down imaginations (as your article speaks to), and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; [6] And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
God tells us to be holy because He is holy (He tells us this SEVEN times throughout the Holy Bible).

Sanctify yourselves (set yourself apart) therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God.
1 Peter 1:13-16, 22, 25 KJV

Wherefore gird up *the loins of your mind*, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; [14] As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: [15] But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. [22] Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: [25] But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. But key to our reason for mental purity is this: one cannot walk straight if their thoughts lead them in two or more directions, therefore focus on God and His ways. Focus how that Psalm 1 explains for us to do.
Psalm 1:1-6 KJV
1. *Blessed is the man* that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. [2] *But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.* [3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. [4] The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. [5] Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. [6] For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Paul himself had problems with sin waring against his desired Christ-like mindset. This was because of the sin that was always locked up in his body (just as it is in ours) thus causing him great issue daily. His hope was to be with Christ very soon so that he would be dine with his war against sin in his mind.
Romans 7:13-25 KJV
13. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. [14] For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. [15] For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. [16] If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. [17] Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [18] For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. [19] For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [20] Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [21] I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. [22] For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: [23] But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Thoughts seek to move us in two polar opposite directions. Our thoughts either seek to bring us closer to God and away from sin; or they seek to bring us farther away from God and toward sin.

James 4:5-10 KJV
5. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? [6] But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. [7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. [8] Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. [9] Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. [10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Our best defence to protect ourselves is to memorize Scripture and obey what we’ve learned from God in His Holy Word. The truest to the original Scripture texts from Antioch, Syria is the KJV of 1611. All other versions are based on the scripts of Alexandria, Egypt. One cannot spiritually live well without God’s Word to feed them. So get the real deal in your hands, not the “Scriptures” that tell you that one must “do good works” in order to hopefully obtain salvation and not damnation. That is called “Legalism”, the mixing of grace and works in order to obtain salvation. It’s just not so! Scripture addresses this here:
Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV
8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
As far as how to lock your mind in on where God wants and tells us to be:

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord . [2] Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. [9] Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. [10] With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. [11] Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. [12] Blessed art thou, O Lord : teach me thy statutes. [15] I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. [16] I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. [18] Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
