Got Treasure?

I Need Some Treasure
© Cheryl Floyd 2009

In these economic, political, and moral times many treasures are wasting away. When fear knocks on your door or anxiety starts creeping around the corner consider the following:

Friends, fads, employment, freedom, in our modern culture everything slips away on fashionable sands and the winds of change. Wouldn’t it be great to find something more foundational? Something you can count on would be a treasure worth seeking earnestly.

When crisis strikes financially or in your family what do you do? How can you know what to do? You need a rich store of wisdom and knowledge. Sometimes you just plain need a bail out! When there’s lack everywhere around you, wouldn’t it be nice to rest assured you have an ample supply? What would be the key to that kind of treasure?

Isaiah 33:6 says: He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

To fear him is simply to recognize who he is and who you aren’t. It’s not about making you scared or shaming and humiliating you into submission.

Our times are very troubling. They can bring unrest emotionally, insecurity financially, and devastation relationally. Instead of ignoring God, maybe we should embrace him. He’s not waiting for you to fix yourself; he’s just waiting for you.

Trust God. Love God. Know God. Fear God.

Therein is the key to your treasure.
